Dopamine receptor D4 (DRD4) has been associated with impulse control, cognition, sleep and attention in various species. When combined, two variants in the pigeon DRD4 gene (954 C to T and 456 C to T) have been found to be significantly associated with better race performance. The DRD4 456 C/T genotype was alone significantly associated with better race performance at short distances.

This test determines the nucleotide(s) present at DRD4 456. The possible outcomes are C/C, C/T and T/T. We test DRD4 456 and DRD4 954 separately and this test is for DRD4 456 only.
Sample requirements: please provide one feather approximately 2 inches long (the same feather can be used for multiple tests).
Results are typically available within 3 weeks.
